Pizotifen, the active ingredient in Mosegor, inhibits certain naturally occurring substances in the brain responsible for causing vascular headaches. It is suitable for the prophylactic treatment of migraine, reducing the frequency of attacks. Mosegor is indicated in the prophylactic treatment of recurrent migraine or of cluster headaches. How to use Take your medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without talking to your doctor. Mosegor is not effective in relieving migraine attacks in progress. Adults: Starting with 0.5 mg daily, the dosage should be progressively increased. The average maintenance dosage is 1.5 mg daily in divided doses or as a single dose at night. In cases where there is not an adequate response to the medicine, your doctor may raise the dosage to 3 to 4.5 mg daily, taken in 3 divided doses. Children: Starting with 0.5 mg, the daily dose may be increased to 1.5 mg in divided doses, or 1 mg as a single dose at night. Warnings and precautions If you have liver problems. Mosegor has been associated with abnormal results of liver function tests and possibly liver problems in a few patients. You may not notice any symptoms but if you notice yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes, abnormal darkening of the urine or unexplained nausea, vomiting and tiredness, tell your doctor straight away. Your doctor may request blood tests to check and to monitor your liver function and may request that you stop the treatment if your liver problem is serious. If you get any of the above symptoms or diseases, while you have started Mosegor, tell your doctor straight away. If you have changes in vision due to an increased pressure in the eye (signs of narrow- angle glaucoma) except if you have successfully been treated with surgery, If you have urinary retention (unable to pass urine, e.g. with prostatic enlargement), If you have convulsions (fits). Side Effects Some side effects could be serious. If you experience any of these, tell your doctor straight away: Frequency: rare: If you have signs of allergy such as rash, itching or hives on the skin; swelling of the face. Frequency: very rare: If you have convulsions (fits). Frequency: not known: If you have signs of yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes, abnormal darkening of the urine or unexplained nausea, vomiting and tiredness (signs of jaundice or hepatitis). Other side effects Very common: increase in appetite and weight gain. Common: drowsiness, tiredness, dizziness, dry mouth, nausea. Storage Information Do not store above 30 ºC.
