Description

The active substance of Concor 10 mg is bisoprolol. Bisoprolol belongs to the group of medicines called beta-blockers. These medicinal products influence the body's response to some nerve impulses, particularly in the heart. Consequently, bisoprolol slows the heartbeat thus increasing the performance of the heart in terms of pumping capacity. At the same time the heart's blood demand and oxygen consumption decrease. Concor 10 mg is used in: High blood pressure (hypertension) Pain in the heart due to disturbed perfusion in the coronary vessels (coronary heart disease: angina pectoris) How to use High blood pressure (hypertension) Unless prescribed otherwise, the recommended dose is 1/2 film-coated tablet of Concor 10 mg once daily (equivalent to 5 mg bisoprolol fumarate/day). In mild hypertension (diastolic blood pressure up to 105 mmHg) therapy with 2.5 mg bisoprolol fumarate once daily may be adequate. If the effect is inadequate, the dose can be increased to 1 film-coated tablet of Concor 10 mg once daily (equivalent to 10 mg bisoprolol fumarate/day). Any further dose increase is only justified in exceptional cases. The highest recommended dosage is 20 mg once daily. Coronary heart disease (angina pectoris) Unless prescribed otherwise, the recommended dose is 1/2 film-coated tablet of Concor 10 mg once daily (equivalent to 5 mg bisoprolol fumarate/day). If the effect is inadequate, the dose can be increased to 1 film-coated tablet of Concor 10 mg once daily (equivalent to 10 mg bisoprolol fumarate/day). Any further dose increase is only justified in exceptional cases. The highest recommended dosage is 20 mg once daily. Warnings and precautions Please consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Concor 10 mg If you have diabetes mellitus with extremely fluctuating blood glucose levels; symptoms of markedly reduced blood glucose (hypoglycaemia symptoms such as accelerated heart rate, palpitations or sweating) can be masked During desensitisation therapy (e.g. for prevention of allergic rhinitis) Like other beta-blockers, bisoprolol can increase the sensitivity to allergens and the severity of anaphylactic reactions, i.e. acute general allergic reactions. If you have an allergic reaction, inform your doctor about the intake of Concor 10 mg so that they can take this information into account when treating your allergic reaction. If you have mild disturbances of impulse conduction from the atria to the ventricles (first degree AV block) If you have disturbed cardiac blood flow due to spasmodic constrictions of the coronary vessels (Prinzmetal's angina) Side Effects If you experience any of the following symptoms you should contact your doctor or go to the hospital straight away: Common side effects: Dizziness, headache Gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation Sensation of cold or numb extremities Tiredness Storage Information Do not store above 30°C. Drug Interactions Blood pressure control medications or heart problems medications (such as amiodarone, amlodipine, clonidine, digitalis glycosides, diltiazem, disopyramide, felodipine, flecainide, lidocaine, methyldopa, moxonidine, phenytoin, propafenone, quinidine, rilmenidine) Antidepressants such as imipramine, amitriptyline, moclobemide Medications to treat mental illness such as phenothiazines such as levomepromazine Medicines used for anesthesia during surgery (see also “Take care with bisoprolol tablets”) Medicines used to treat epilepsy, eg. barbiturates such as phenobarbital Some pain relievers (such as acetylsalicylic acid, diclofenac, indomethacin, ibuprofen, and naproxen) Ingredients The active substance is: Bisoprolol fumarate Tablet core: Colloidal silicon dioxide; magnesium stearate (Ph. Eur.); crospovidone, microcrystalline cellulose; corn starch; calcium hydrogen phosphate. Tablet coating: Iron (III) hydroxide oxide x H2O; iron (III) oxide, dimethicone; macrogol 400; titanium dioxide; hypromellose.
