Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules contain Hydroxocobalamin, the most common naturally occurring stable form of Vitamin B12 with prolonged action. Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules gives a continuous supply of vitamin B12 needed, thus preventing vitamin B12 deficiency. Vitamin B12 helps in digestion of fat and carbohydrates, and protein synthesis. Also vitamin B12 is important for cells, tissues, nerves and blood. Deficiency of Vitamin B12 causes certain types of anemia and damage of nerves which can be treated by Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules. Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules can also be used after surgical operation in stomach and intestine, or in cases that there are problems in absorption of Vitamin B12 from intestine. Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules is useful for strict vegetarians. Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules is used in treatment of a disease called Tobacco amblyopia. Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules is effective in case of people with increased requirements of Vitamin B12 as in bleeding, anemia, diseases of thyroid gland, cancer, liver and kidney diseases, and certain diseases of nerves. Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules is used for prevention and treatment of Cyanide toxicity. Increased sense of well being is achieved within the first 24 hours after beginning the treatment and the memory and orientation will be highly improved. How to use Your doctor will choose the dose that is right for you. You will be given Depovit B12 - 1000 Ampoules by your doctor or pharmacist as an injection into a muscle. You may be given it just once or it may be repeated every other day, weekly or monthly, depending on how much your body needs. Treatment of Anemia and severe deficiencies: 1 ampoule (into muscle) every other day for 1 – 2 weeks, then 1 ampoule every 3 months for maintenance. Treatment of Neurological cases (disease in nerves): 1 ampoule (into muscle) every other day until improvement is optimum. Treatment of Anemia (Prophylactic dose) and mild deficiencies: 1 ampoule (into muscle) every 2 – 3 months. Warnings and precautions You should not be given Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules if: You are allergic to the active ingredient, hydroxocobalamin You are allergic to any of the other ingredients of Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules (see section 6.). You are breast-feeding. Side Effects Like all medicines Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Generally Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules is well tolerated, but rarely hypersensitivity reactions may occur, which include itching, diarrhea, urticaria or disease in peripheral blood vessel. Do not use after the expiry date which is stated on the label and carton (Exp: month, year) Drug Interactions Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines: Antibiotics (for treating infections) or antimetabolites (medicines which stop cells dividing, such as mercaptopurine for leukaemia), as these treatments may interfere with tests to measure the levels of Vitamin B12 in your blood or urine. An antibiotic called chloramphenicol, as you may not respond well to Depovit B12 – 1000 Ampoules.
