What is Derma-T and what is it used for Derma-T contains an antibiotic called clindamycin phosphate and comes either as a solution or lotion. The solution and lotion are used on the skin to treat acne. How to use Always use Derma-T as your doctor has told you. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure how to use this product. Usually, this medicine should be used twice a day. Wash the affected area and apply a thin layer of the solution or lotion. Topical lotion: Apply a thin layer of the lotion to the affected area using a swab or soft cloth. If you forget to use Derma-T, don't worry if you miss one or two applications; just continue as soon as you remember. If you stop using Derma T, do not stop using Derma T once your acne starts to improve. Ask your doctor when you should stop treatment. If you have any further questions on how to use this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Warnings and precautions Before using Derma-T Do not use Derma-T if you are: hypersensitive (allergic) to clindamycin, lincomycin, or any of the other ingredients in the medicine. Do not use if you have a history of inflammatory bowel disease or antibiotic-associated colitis. Use caution with Derma-T Before using Derma-T make sure your doctor knows if you have diarrhea or usually get diarrhea when taking antibiotics. If you develop severe, prolonged, or bloody diarrhea during or after using Derma T. Tell your doctor immediately as it may be necessary to stop treatment. This may be a sign of bowel inflammation (pseudomembranous colitis) that can occur after antibiotic treatment. Derma T Topical Solution contains alcohol which can cause burning or irritation to the eyes. Keep it away from your eyes, mouth and any cuts or scrapes on your skin. If you get any of these sensitive areas, wash them with plenty of cold water. Be careful when using the lotion or topical solution around your mouth as they both have an unpleasant taste. Derma-T topical solution is flammable. Do not use the solution near flame or while smoking. Side Effects Like all medicines, Derma-T can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Tell your doctor right away if you have severe, persistent, or bloody diarrhea (which may be accompanied by stomach pain or fever). This is an uncommon side effect that may occur after antibiotic treatment and can be a sign of serious bowel inflammation. Derma T topical solution may dry out your skin (a very common side effect). Storage Information Store at a temperature below 25°C, and keep the topical solution container tightly closed. Do not use after the printed expiry date or if the product shows any visible signs of deterioration. Drug Interactions Tell your doctor if you are using any skin treatments that contain benzoyl peroxide. These medications should not be used at the same time as Derma-T. If you are going to the hospital for surgery, tell your doctor and/or anesthesiologist if you are taking medicines that cause muscle paralysis (neuromuscular blocking agents). Please tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
