It is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). The delayed-release capsules are indicated in adults for: Healing of all grades of erosive esophagitis (erosive esophagitis) Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis and relief of heartburn Treatment of heartburn associated with asymptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) SoluTab delayed-release tablets are indicated in adults for: Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis and relief of heartburn Treatment of heartburn associated with GERD How to use Two 30 mg SoluTab tablets cannot be replaced by one 60 mg Dexlansoprazole capsule Healing of erosive oesophagitis: 60 mg once daily for up to 8 weeks Maintenance of healing of erosive oesophagitis: 30 mg once daily for up to 6 months Asymptomatic gastroesophageal reflux: 30 mg once daily For 4 weeks Dexlansoprazole SoluTab Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis: 30 mg once daily for up to 6 months Asymptomatic GERD: 30 mg once daily for 4 weeks Dexlansoprazole Capsules Take without regard to food Swallow whole; do not chew Dexlansoprazole SoluTab Take at least 30 minutes before a meal Warnings and precautions Gastric malignancy: Occasional response with dexlansoprazole does not preclude gastric malignancy Acute interstitial nephritis: observed in patients taking proton pump inhibitors Cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) deficiency: Long-term daily use (e.g., for longer than 3 years) may result in malabsorption or cyanocobalamin deficiency Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea: Proton pump inhibitor therapy may be associated with increased risk Bone fracture: Long-term, multiple daily proton pump inhibitor therapy may be associated with increased risk of osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist, or spine Hypomagnesemia: rarely reported with prolonged proton pump inhibitor therapy Interactions with diagnostic investigations for neuroendocrine tumors: Increases in intragastric pH may lead to hypergastrinemia, chromaffin-like cell hyperplasia, and increased chromogranin A levels that may interfere with diagnostic investigations for neuroendocrine tumors Interaction with methotrexate: Concomitant use with proton pump inhibitors may increase and/or prolong blood concentrations of methotrexate and/or its metabolite, which may lead to toxicity. With high dose methotrexate, consider temporary withdrawal. Side Effects Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience tightness in the throat, swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, or feel faint or have difficulty breathing. Stop using the product if you experience hives or itching of the face or body. Storage Information Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Store at a temperature between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. Store in the original container. Keep the container tightly closed. Do not use if you notice any damage or tear to the outer packaging. Do not dispose of medicines via wastewater or household waste. Drug Interactions Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking: Antiretrovirals Warfarin Methotrexate Digoxin Medicines that depend on stomach acidity for absorption (eg iron salts, erlotinib, dasatinib, nilotinib, mycophenolate mofetil, ketoconazole/itraconazole) Tacrolimus CYP2C19 or CYP3A4 inhibitors CYP2C19 or CYP3A4 inducers Ingredients Dexlansoprazole Specifications Product Form: Capsules
