Diprosalic ointment contains betamethasone dipropionate and salicylic acid. Betamethasone dipropionate is one of a group of medicines called topical corticosteroids. They are classified as 'potent corticosteroids'. These medicines are applied to the surface of the skin to reduce redness and itching caused by certain skin problems. Salicylic acid thins the top layer of the skin's surface, which is caused by the skin problem. This allows betamethasone dipropionate to reach the damaged skin underneath to help it heal. In adults and children, Diprosalic ointment is used to treat skin conditions where the outer surface of the skin is covered with layers of scales. The ointment removes this layer and relieves the redness and itching caused by skin problems. How to use Usually in adults and children, a thin layer of Diprosalic ointment is applied and should be gently rubbed into the affected area of skin twice a day. You should always follow these instructions when using Diprosalic Ointment: Do not use Diprosalic on the face for more than 5 days. Do not use a large amount of ointment on large areas of the body for a long period of time (e.g. every day for several weeks or months). Avoid getting the ointment in your eyes, inside your nose or mouth. Use in children Use as above. Do not use this ointment on any part of the baby's body for more than 5 days. Do not apply the ointment under your baby's diaper, as this may cause the active ingredients to penetrate the skin, and may cause some unwanted symptoms.
