Description

Epicogel contains three different ingredients: The first two substances are aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide. They belong to a group of medicines called antacids. The other ingredient is dimethicone, which belongs to a group of medicines called antifoams. Epicogel is used to treat: Indigestion. Heartburn. Abdominal bloating. Epicogel works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach. The anti-foaming agent in Epicogel helps remove gas from your stomach. How to use Shake the bottle well before use. Take this medicine by mouth. Adults including the elderly: Take 1-2 spoonfuls (5 ml) 4 times daily. The medicine should be taken 20 minutes to 1 hour after meals and at bedtime. Take the medicine as directed by your doctor. Warnings and precautions You should not take Epicogel if: You are allergic (hypersensitive) to aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, dimethicone or any of the other ingredients of the preparation (for more information see section 6). Signs of an allergic reaction include: skin rash, problems swallowing or breathing, swelling of the lips, face, throat or tongue. You feel very weak and have no energy (asthenia). You had kidney disease. You have low levels of phosphate in your blood, which shows up in blood tests. Side Effects Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side effects get worse or last longer than a few days. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects: Holding Diarrhea These side effects can occur, but are not common. Storage Information Store the medicine at a temperature not exceeding 30˚C. Epicogel should not be taken after the expiry date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Drug Interactions Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, including herbal medicines. Epicogel can affect the way other medicines work or these medicines can affect the way Epicogel works.
