Goutex tablets are used to treat gout, which is a condition caused by an increase in the concentration of a chemical called uric acid (urate) in the human body. In some patients, the amount of uric acid in the blood becomes so high that it begins to precipitate. At that point, urate crystals begin to form in and around the joints and kidneys. These crystals may suddenly cause severe pain, redness, heat and swelling in the joint (called a gout attack). Neglecting to treat these conditions leads to the formation of large accumulations called tophi (tophi) in and around the joints. These tophi can lead to damage to the joint and bone. Goutex works by reducing the level of uric acid in the blood. Maintaining this low level of uric acid by using Goutex once daily prevents the formation of these crystals and over time the symptoms begin to disappear. Also, maintaining the low level of uric acid in the blood for a long period of time also leads to a reduction in the size of the stones. How to use Your doctor will determine the appropriate concentration for your condition. The dosage is usually one tablet daily. Goutex must be taken by mouth, and can be taken with or without food. You should not stop taking Goutex unless your doctor tells you to. Continue taking Goutex daily even when you are not having gout attacks or flares.
