Description

HEMAMAX F is chocolate-flavored chewable tablet that contains folic acid and non-ionic form of iron which is less irritant to gastrointestinal tract and does not stain the teeth. The non-ionic form of iron is characterized by non-metallic taste. The folic acid content corresponds to the international recommended dose. HEMAMAX F is used as a source of folic acid and iron for folic acid and iron-deficiency anemia and when the physiological needs are increased. HEMAMAX F is used to combat both folic acid and iron deficiency and anaemia, and to improve iron reserves and folate status in women of reproductive age. How to use Dosage Your physician will determine what dose is appropriate for you. Treatment of anemia: 1 – 2 tablets daily in divided doses. Prophylactic from anemia: 1 tablet daily. Pregnancy and Lactation period: 1 tablet daily. HEMAMAX F Tablets shall be chewed. HEMAMAX F may cause gastrointestinal irritation if taken on empty stomach and this can be reduced by giving it with or after food or by beginning therapy with a small dose and increasing gradually. Treatment should be continued until blood values return to normal levels for a month after that to ensure complete compensation of iron stores in the body. Chloramphenicol and co-trimoxazole may interfere with folate metabolism. Folic acid absorption may be reduced by sulfasalazine. Folic acid may interfere with the effects of methotrexate.
