This medicine contains Chlorphenamine Maleate which belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines, which act to relieve the symptoms of allergies. It can be used to relieve the symptoms of allergic reactions including hayfever, raised, red itchy skin (symptoms of urticaria, which is often known as nettle rash), allergic reactions to foods or medicines, insect bites, runny nose and swelling of the face or throat due to fluid buildup. How to use Adults and children of 12 years and over One tablet. Every four to six hours. Don’t take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours. Children of 6 to 12 years Half a tablet. Every four to six hours. Don’t give more than 6 half tablets in 24 hours. This medication should not be used for the treatment of cough and cold symptoms in children under 6 years of age. Take this medicine by mouth. Do not take more than the amount recommended above. If your symptoms do not go away talk to your doctor. Warnings and precautions Talk to your pharmacist or doctor: If you have epilepsy If you have liver or heart problems, severe high blood pressure If you have difficulty passing urine If you have asthma or bronchitis If you have an overactive thyroid, raised pressure in your eye (glaucoma) If you are a man with prostate problems Side Effects If you experience any of the following symptoms you should contact your doctor or go to the hospital straight away: Children and older people are more prone to side effects. The most common side effect is Drowsiness. This Drowsiness can be helpful if symptoms are particularly troublesome at night. Stop taking this medicine and consult your doctor if you or your child experience: Allergic reactions which can be severe. Signs include raised and itchy skin, swelling, and difficulty breathing. Liver problems. Anaemia or unexplained bleeding or bruising. The following side effects may occur: Difficulty concentration, feeling tired, dizziness, headache or blurred vision. Loss of appetite, indigestion, feeling or being sick, diarrhea, tummy pain or dry mouth. Difficulty in passing urine Low blood pressure or changes in heart rhythm. Chest tightness or thickening of the phlegm. Skin peeling, itchy rash and sensitivity to the sun. Ringing in the ears. Twitching, muscular weakness and abnormal coordination. Confusion, excitability, irritability, low mood or nightmares. Hyperactivity in children Storage Information Store below 25°C. Drug Interactions Before you take this medicine, make sure that you tell your pharmacist about ANY other medicines you might be using at the same time, particularly the following: Other antihistamines that may make you sleepy Sleeping tablets, medicines for anxiety, antidepressants Phenytoin (for epilepsy) Lopinavir (for viral infections) Ingredients Each tablet contains Chlorphenamine Maleate The tablet also contain maize starch, magnesium stearate, Ariabel Yellow, Avicel PH 101& Calcium Sulphate Dihydrate HF.
