Mixtard is a human insulin with both rapid and long-acting action. Mixtard is used to lower high blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes (diabetes mellitus). Diabetes is a disease that causes your body to be unable to produce enough insulin to control your blood sugar level. Treatment with Mixtard ™ helps prevent complications from diabetes. Mixtard will start lowering blood sugar about 30 minutes after the dose is injected, and its effect lasts for about 24 hours. How to use How to inject Mixtard Inject the insulin under the skin. Follow the injection method recommended by your doctor or nurse as described in the injection pen manual. Keep the needle under your skin for at least 6 seconds. Continue to press the button fully until the needle is withdrawn from the skin. This will ensure proper injection while limiting blood flow into the needle or insulin reservoir. After each injection be sure to remove and discard the needle and store Mixtard ™ without the attached needle. Otherwise, the fluid may leak, resulting in inaccurate dosing.
