Mycogel contains three different ingredients. They are dry aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide and oxythazine. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide belong to a group of medicines called antacids. Oxythazine belongs to a group of medicines called narcotic medicines. Mycogel is used to treat: Heartburn or when you have too much acid in your stomach (indigestion). Gastritis. To reduce the amount of acid in your stomach or intestines, when you have an ulcer. Micogel works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach. How to use Take this medicine: Shake the bottle well before use. Take this medicine by mouth. If necessary, Mycogel can be taken with water or milk. Adults, the elderly and children 14 years of age and older: Take 1-2 teaspoonfuls (5 ml) 4 times daily and at bedtime. The medicine should be taken 20 minutes to 1 hour after meals and at bedtime. Take the medicine as directed by your doctor. If symptoms do not go away with medication, talk to your doctor. Children under 14 years: It is not recommended to give the medicine to children under 14 years. Warnings and precautions You should not take Mycogel if: You are allergic (hypersensitive) to aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, oxythazine or any of the other ingredients. Signs of an allergic reaction include: skin rash, problems swallowing or breathing, swelling of the lips, face, throat or tongue. You feel very weak and have no energy (asthenia). You had kidney problems. You had severe stomach pain. You had a partial or complete obstruction in your intestines. Do not take this medicine if any of the above apply to you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. Side Effects Like all medicines, Mycogel can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side effects get worse or last longer than a few days. Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects: Constipation Diarrhea These side effects can occur, but are not common. Storage Information Store the medicine away from light at a temperature not exceeding 30˚C. Drug Interactions Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription, including herbal medicines. Mycogel can affect the way other medicines work or these medicines can affect the way Mycogel works. In particular, the following medicines: Some medications used to treat infections such as tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, rifampicin and ketoconazole. Drugs used to combat malaria, such as chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine. Chlorpromazine is used to treat mental illness (psychosis). Vitamins.
