Dusty, smoky atmospheres, eye strain and chlorine in swimming pools can make the eyes red. When the eyes are red it is because more blood than usual is flowing through the small blood vessels of the eye. OCURED contains two active ingredients: Antazoline sulphate is an anti-allergic agent and Naphazoline Nitrate which is restores the normal flow of blood to remove redness. OCURED helps to make your eyes feel more comfortable by relieving the redness and itching caused by allergies such as hay fever, or house dust allergy. How to use The recommended dose is: Children and adolescents: One drop in each eye, two or three times each day. Adults: One or two drops in each eye, two or three times each day. Elderly: One drop in each eye, two or three times each day. These drops should not be used in children under 12 years of age. If your symptoms have not improved after 2 days you must go and see your doctor because OCURED might not be the right medicine for you. You may have an infection and need an antibiotic. How to use your eye drops. 1. Check the seal is not broken before first use. 2. Wash and dry your hands. 3. Remove the plastic cap from the eye drop tip. 4. Tilt your head back while seated or lie down on your back. 5. Gently pull the lower eyelid downwards and look up. 6. Place the tip of the bottle close to your eye. Squeeze the bottle and let one drop fall into the space between the lower eyelid and the eye. Take care that the tip of the bottle does not touch your eye, the skin around your eye or your fingers. 7. Close your eye for a moment. 8. When both eyes are to be treated, repeat for the other eye. 9. Replace the cap straight away. Warnings and precautions Do not use OCURED if you have If you are allergic to Antazoline sulphate or Naphazoline Nitrate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine If you have a condition called narrow angle glaucoma, you have other eye disease or have had eye surgery. If you wear contact lenses of any type If you are taking, or in the last 14 days have taken, one of a group of antidepressant drugs called monoamine oxidase inhibitors.' Warnings and precautions Talk to your doctor if you have If you have high blood pressure, a heart condition (e.g. long QT syndrome), a thyroid problem or diabetes If you are pregnant or breast-feeding If you suffer from dry eyes If you have difficulty in urinating (passing water) If you have an adrenal tumor (phaeochromocytoma). Depression Hardening and narrowing of blood vessels Or experience eye pain or changes in your eyesight Side Effects Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. OCURED is suitable for most people, but, like all medicines, it can sometimes cause side effects. Uncommon (≥1/1,000 to <1/100): Nosebleeds Not Known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): Eye stinging Eye redness, blurred vision, headache, drowsiness, enlarged pupils Allergic reactions: rash, swelling, itching of the eye area, eye irritation Changes in heart beat rhythm, raised blood pressure, nausea, pallor, sweating Stop using the product and seek medical help immediately if you experience: Allergic reactions such as itching or rashes Pain in the eye or change in vision Stinging or irritation in the eye caused by using too many drops or using them too often Other side effects may include: Eye irritation, eye pain. Continued and excessive use may lead to increased redness of the eye and to developing of other eye conditions. Nausea Headache, dizziness Storage Information Store below 30°C.Protect from light. Drug Interactions If you are taking any other medicines, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product, particularly if you: Are taking digoxin, quinidine, atropine or tricyclic antidepressants Have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (maois) within the last 14 days Are taking antihypertensive (high blood pressure) medication Are using any other eye treatments Any drugs which may cause drowsiness including some painkillers, sedatives, alcohol and antipsychotics Other drugs used for high blood pressure or anxiety such as atenolol and propranolol If you are going to have an anesthetic, you should tell your doctor you are using ocured Ingredients Each ml contains Antazoline Sulphate 5 mg, Naphazoline Nitrate 0.25 mg, Benzalkonium Chloride Solution 0.2 mg (preservative). excipients: Sodium Chloride,water for injection.
