Description

Alfacalcidol is used to treat conditions in which the amount of calcium in your body needs to be changed. It is used to treat: Bone changes due to kidney failure (osteopenia). Changes in the thyroid gland. Low levels of calcium in the blood of newborns (hypocalcemia). Softening and deformity of the bones due to calcium deficiency (rickets or osteomalacia). How to use Adults and children weighing more than 20 kg: The usual starting dose is 1 microgram each day. This is either 1 brown capsule, 2 red capsules or 4 white capsules. Individuals typically take between 1 and 3 micrograms each day. Warnings and precautions Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before taking it. If you are taking any other medications.
