Panadol Extend is a bi-layer tablet containing an immediate-release and sustained-release form of paracetamol, a pain reliever that can last for up to 8 hours. Panadol Extend is an analgesic and antipyretic. Panadol Extend relieves mild to moderate pain due to osteoarthritis and muscle pain. It also relieves mild to moderate pain including: headache, migraine, menstrual pain, pain following dental surgery/tooth extraction, toothache, fever and pain following vaccination. How to use For oral use only. For adults (including the elderly) and children 12 years of age and older: Do not take more than 6 tablets (4000 mg of paracetamol) in 24 hours . Do not take the medicine more than once every 6 hours. Do not take the medicine for more than 10 days without a doctor's advice Do not exceed the stated dose. Always take the lowest effective dose to relieve symptoms. Do not suck or chew this tablet. Children: Benadryl Actend is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. Warnings and precautions Do not take Panadol Extra if: You have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, caffeine or any of the other ingredients You are taking any other medicines that contain paracetamol. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine: You have liver or kidney problems, including alcoholic liver disease You are underweight (< 50 kg) or malnourished You regularly drink alcohol You are severely dehydrated You are taking other medicines that affect the liver You have a severe infection because this may increase the risk of metabolic acidosis . Signs of metabolic acidosis include: Deep, rapid, difficult breathing Feeling like you need to be sick (nausea) and vomiting Loss of appetite Contact your doctor immediately if you experience more than one of these symptoms. You may need to stop using this product altogether or limit the amount of paracetamol you take. Stop taking the medicine and tell your doctor straight away if you experience any of the following: Allergic reactions, such as a rash or itching, sometimes with breathing problems or swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face. • Rash, peeling skin or mouth ulcers. Unexpected bruising or bleeding. Changes in blood tests that measure liver function. Side Effects insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, agitation, headache, upset stomach, heart palpitations, nervousness, and dizziness. Storage Information Store below 30°C. Store in original package. Keep away from light and heat. Drug Interactions The toxic effects of paracetamol on the liver may be increased by alcohol intake. The anticoagulant effect of warfarin and coumarin drugs can be enhanced by prolonged daily administration of paracetamol, with an increased risk of bleeding. There is no significant effect of accidental doses. The absorption of paracetamol is reduced by cholestyramine. Therefore, Questram should not be taken within an hour of acute pain relief. The absorption of paracetamol can be increased by mecloclopramide and domperidone. Therefore, concomitant administration should be avoided. Do not use this medicine if you are taking prescription or nonprescription medicines containing paracetamol to treat pain, fever, cold or flu symptoms, or to help you sleep.
