Pulmicort is used in the regular treatment of asthma. Pulmicort relieves and prevents airway inflammation caused by asthma. Pulmicort should not be used as a substitute for airway opening medications. How to use You should always use Pulmicort exactly as your doctor has told you to. Your doctor will prescribe the correct dosage for you. The number of doses varies depending on the severity of your asthma. Pulmicort should be used regularly, i.e. every day, even if there are no symptoms. 1- Mix the suspension before use by shaking the single dose unit carefully in a circular motion Hold the single dose unit in an upright position and open it by twisting the arm Push the liquid inside the spray chamber. Warnings and precautions Take special care with Pulmicort Tell your doctor if you: • You have or have had liver disease or a liver problem. • You have pulmonary tuberculosis (active or inactive). • You have a fungal or viral infection in your airways. Side Effects Common · Fever or chills, Increased mucus secretion or change in its color, · Increased coughing or difficulty breathing. Very rare Angioedema · Bronchospasm (contraction of muscles in the airways causing a wheezing sound in the chest). · Anaphylactic reactions Stop taking Pulmicort and call your doctor right away if you experience any of the following symptoms of angioedema: Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat Difficulty swallowing · Hives and difficulty breathing. Storage Information Keep the medicine out of the reach and sight of children. • Single-dose units should be stored upright and at a temperature not exceeding 30° C. • Store single-dose units in a closed foil envelope. Sensitive to light. • Single-dose units stored in an opened foil envelope should be used within 3 months. Drug Interactions · Ketoconazole or itraconazole (found in medicines used to treat fungal infections). · Saquinavir, indinavir, ritonavir, nelfinavir, amprenavir, lopinavir, fosamprenavir, atazanavir, or tipranavir (known as HIV protease inhibitors used to treat AIDS). Ingredients The active ingredient is pedosunide. Each 2 ml single dose unit contains: 0.5 mg or 1 mg of pedosunide, respectively. • Other ingredients are edetate disodium, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, polysorbate 80, citric acid (anhydrous), sodium citrate and water for injection. These ingredients help in the manufacture of the suspension. Specifications Each pack (20 x 2 ml) contains 4 foil packets plus 5 single dose units, each dose containing 2 ml.
