Description

Relvar Ellipta contains two active ingredients; fluticasone furoate and vilanterol, for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD ) . To take Relvar Ellipta , it must be inhaled into the lungs through the mouth using the Ellipta inhaler . Relvar Ellipta should not be used to relieve a sudden attack of breathlessness or wheezing. If you get this type of attack, you should use a quick-acting inhaler (such as salbutamol). Fluticasone furoate belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids , often called steroids . Corticosteroids reduce inflammation. They also reduce inflammation and irritation of the small airways in the lungs and thus relieve breathing problems. How to use Relvar Ellipta should always be used exactly as your doctor has told you. The usual dose of Relvar Ellipta for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one inhalation containing 100 micrograms of fluticasone furoate and 25 micrograms of vilanterol once daily at the same time each day. If you have severe asthma, your doctor may decide that you should use one puff of Relvar Ellipta for the higher strength inhaler (200 micrograms fluticasone furoate and 25 micrograms vilanterol). This dose is given once a day at the same time each day. Warnings and precautions Tell your doctor about all of your health conditions including: • If you have heart problems. • If you suffer from high blood pressure. • If you have seizures. • If you have thyroid problems. • If you have diabetes or high blood sugar. • If you have liver problems. • If you have weak bones (osteoporosis). • If you have an immune system problem. • If you have eye problems such as glaucoma or increased pressure in your eye. • If you have any type of viral, bacterial, fungal or parasitic infection. • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding. Side Effects Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; itching; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency with which these side effects occur is not known. Serious side effects: • Lung infections • Decreased adrenal function • Serious breathing problems immediately after taking a dose of it. • Weak immune system • Osteoporosis (thinning of the bones) Storage Information Keep out of reach and sight of children. · Relvar Ellipta should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. · After removing the foil package, the product can be stored for a maximum of one month at a temperature below 30°C. Drug Interactions You should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. This includes medicines obtained without a prescription. Some medicines may affect how Relvar Ellipta works, or make you more likely to experience side effects, including: Ketoconazole, to treat fungal infections . Ingredients The active ingredients are 25 micrograms of vilanterol and 100 or 200 micrograms of fluticasone furoate. Relvar Ellipta also contains lactose monohydrate (contains milk proteins) and magnesium stearate. Specifications Relvar Ellipta is inhaled orally using the Ellipta device. The active ingredients are packed in individual blisters as a powder inside the device. Relvar Ellipta contains either 14 or 30 doses.
