The active ingredients in Rennie chewable tablets – Calcium Carbonate and Magnesium Carbonate - neutralize stomach acid and relieve symptoms of stomach acidity such as burning and acid reux How to use Adults and children over 12 years of age: Dissolve 1-2 chewable tablets one at a time in the mouth (Renee chewable tablets are to be taken without water), preferably one hour after meals and before going to bed, but can also be taken in between meals in cases of acidity (heartburn). Repeat approximately every two hours if necessary. Do not take more than 11 chewable tablets per day and the maximum dose should not exceed two weeks continuously. Use and safety in children under 12 years of age have not been tested and are not recommended. Warnings and precautions Factors to consider: You should not take Rennie chewable tablets if you have an intolerance to fructose or refined sugar (fructose intolerance, sucrase-isomaltose deficiency) or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Advice for people with diabetes: One Rennie tablet contains 475 mg of sucrose. When should you not take Rennie tablets? Do not take Rennie tablets in the following cases: If you are hypersensitive to calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate or any of the excipients in Rennie tablets If you have severe kidney failure. If you have hypercalcemia (too much calcium in your blood) If you have been diagnosed with kidney stones (nephrolithiasis) If you have hypophosphatemia (not enough phosphate in the blood). When should Rennie tablets be used with caution? Rennie chewable tablets should not be used for more than two weeks without consulting a physician. If symptoms are prolonged and/or recur frequently, a physician should be consulted to determine if they are due to a serious condition. Rennie chewable tablets should not be taken for extended periods of time without medical supervision, as long-term use may lead to changes in blood mineral levels. If Rennie tablets are administered to individuals with renal impairment, serum magnesium concentrations should be monitored regularly. In such cases, long-term treatment with high doses of this medicinal product should be avoided; otherwise, serum calcium, phosphate, and magnesium concentrations should also be monitored regularly. Side Effects The following side effects may occur when taking Rennie: Nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, constipation, diarrhea, muscle weakness. Some complications (hypermagnesemia, hypercalcemia) may occur in patients with kidney disease, and these complications may include nausea, vomiting, weakness, and headache. If you experience any of these symptoms, you should consult your doctor immediately.
