Resova is a medicine for treating high cholesterol levels in the blood, as high cholesterol may lead to atherosclerosis and other serious diseases. Rosuvastatin is used to correct levels of fatty substances in the blood called lipids, the most common of which is cholesterol. There are different types of cholesterol in the blood - "bad" cholesterol and "good" cholesterol. Rosuvastatin can lower "bad" cholesterol and increase "good" cholesterol. It works by helping to prevent the body from producing "bad" cholesterol. How to use Always take your medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist to find out which starting dose of Resova will suit you best. The recommended dose is 20 mg daily. However, your doctor may decide to use a lower dose. Swallow each tablet whole with a full glass of water. Take Resova once a day. You can take it at any time of the day with or without food. Try to take your pill at the same time each day to help you remember to take it. Warnings and precautions Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Rosuvastatin if you have: Kidney problems. Liver problems. Have recurrent or unexplained muscle aches or pains, a personal or family history of muscle problems, or a previous history of muscle problems Have or have had myasthenia gravis or oculomotor myasthenia gravis Had a severe skin rash or peeling skin, blisters and/or mouth ulcers after taking Resova or other related medicines. Drink large amounts of alcohol on a regular basis. Thyroid gland is not working normally. Medicines called fibrates to lower cholesterol. Medicines used to treat HIV infection, such as ritonavir with lopinavir and/or atazanavir Have taken in the past 7 days a medicine called fusidic acid by mouth or injection. Over 70 years of age Have severe respiratory failure. Side Effects Common : Headache, stomach ache, constipation, feeling tired, muscle pain, feeling weak, dizziness. Diabetes. You are more likely to develop diabetes if you have high levels of sugars and fats in your blood, are overweight, and have high blood pressure. Your doctor will monitor your health while you are taking this medicine. Storage Information Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 30°C. Store in original package to protect from moisture.
