Insulin glargine is a modified insulin, very similar to human insulin. Insulin glargine is used to treat diabetes in adults, adolescents, and children aged 2 years and older. It has a long-lasting, consistent blood sugar-lowering effect. How to use Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Use insulin glargine once every day, preferably at the same time each day. Insulin glargine is for subcutaneous (under the skin) injection. You should not inject it directly into a vein (intravenously) or into a muscle (intramuscularly). With each injection, change the injection site within the specific area of skin you are using. This may reduce the risk of developing lumps or dimpling of the skin. The best places for injection are: the front of the waist (abdomen), the upper arm, or the front of the thighs. Insulin will work faster if it is injected into the front of your waist. You should always measure your blood sugar regularly. Insulin glargine can be used in adolescents and children aged 1 year and older. There is no experience with the use of insulin glargine in children under 1 year of age.
