Vascodipine contains the active ingredient amlodipine which belongs to a group of medicines called calcium channel blockers. Vascodipine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) or a certain type of chest pain called angina, and a rare form of it called Prinzmetal or variant angina. In patients with high blood pressure, the medicine works by relaxing the blood vessels, so that blood can pass through them more easily. In patients with angina, Vascodipine works by improving blood flow to the heart muscle, which in turn receives more oxygen and as a result chest pain is prevented. This medicine does not provide immediate relief from chest pain caused by angina. How to use Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.
