Elica™ Ointment belongs to a class of medications called topical corticosteroids and this ointment is classified as a “potent corticosteroid.” This medicine is applied to the skin to reduce redness and itching of the skin caused by some skin problems. Elica™ Ointment is used in adults and children to reduce redness and itching of the skin caused by certain skin problems such as psoriasis or dermatitis. Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes itchy, scaly, pink patches on the elbows, knees, scalp, and other parts of the body. Dermatitis is a skin condition that occurs as a result of the skin's reaction to an external factor such as detergents, causing redness and itching of the skin. How to use Use Elica™ exactly as your doctor tells you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Elica™ is not recommended for use in children under 2 years of age. For children and adults: A thin layer of Elica™ Ointment should be gently applied to the affected area. Apply the affected area with massage once daily. You must follow the following instructions when using Elica™: - Do not use the ointment on the face for more than 5 days. - Do not use the ointment on children on any area of the body for more than 5 days. - Do not apply the ointment to the area under the baby's diaper as this may facilitate the passage of the active ingredient through the skin, which may cause unwanted side effects. - You should check with your doctor before covering the treated areas with a bandage or tape. The treated areas on the face should not be covered with any bandage or tape. - Do not use a large amount of the ointment on large areas of the body for long periods (e.g. daily for weeks or months). - Do not use on or near the eyes, including the eyelids. Warnings and precautions Tell your doctor or pharmacist before using it if you: You have ever had an allergic reaction to mometasone or any other medicine in the past. Do you have chickenpox or shingles? You suffer from acne or rosacea. You have a skin infection. You have cracked skin, sores, or itchy skin that is not inflamed or red. You are trying to get pregnant, are already pregnant or breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve after 2 weeks of treatment or if it worsens. This medicine is for use on certain areas of the skin only: Do not use on face, groin, armpits, or for diaper rash unless directed to do so by your doctor. Side Effects A few people may experience some of the following side effects after using: Elica™: - Allergic skin reaction. - Secondary bacterial infection of the skin. - young love. - Inflammation or infection of hair follicles. - Thinning of the skin. - Red marks accompanied by a heat rash (heat rash). - Loss of skin color. - Burning skin. - Stinging skin. - Prickling skin. - Increase hair growth. - Softness and stretch marks on the skin. Storage Information Keep out of reach and sight of children. Store at a temperature not exceeding 03°C. Do not use Elica™ Ointment after the expiry date printed on the package and tube.
