Product
Duphalac oral solution contains a laxative called lactulose. It works by making stool softer and therefore easier to pass, by reducing the pull of water through the intestines. So it is not absorbed into your body. What are the indications for using Duphalac oral solution? • Constipation: Regulating the physiological rhythms of the colon. • When soft stools have a medical benefit (hemorrhoids, post-operative colon/anal surgery) • Portal somatic encephalopathy (PSE): Treatment and prevention of hepatic coma or pre-hepatic coma. How to use The dose should be taken at the same time each day. The medicine should be swallowed quickly. Do not leave it in your mouth. You can take Duphalac oral solution undiluted or diluted in some liquid. To take Duphalac oral solution in bottles, use the graduated cup provided with the package. Dosage: To treat constipation or if it is medically necessary to have loose stools. The dose may be taken once daily, for example with breakfast, or divided into two doses daily. For Duphalac oral solution in bottles, use the measuring cup provided with the package. After a few days of taking the starting dose, it may be adjusted to the maintenance dose based on your response to treatment. It may be necessary for several days (2-3 days) of treatment before noticing an effect. Drug Interactions Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, or have recently taken, any other medicines: Lactulose may increase the rate of potassium loss caused by other drugs (eg, thiazides, steroids and amphrodisiacin B). Use of cardiac glycosides (eg digoxin) together with lactulose can increase the effect of cardiac glycosides by lowering the level of potassium in the blood. If any of the above apply to you (or you are not sure), talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Duphalac oral solution. Ingredients Lactulose Specifications Duphalac oral solution is a clear, viscous, colorless to yellowish-brown liquid.
