Optifresh is a tear substitute and contains a moisturizing substance called polyvinyl alcohol, which is a non-ionic surface tension reducer used as a moisturizer and a stabilizing agent inside the eyeball. It also increases the viscosity of the solution and thus prolongs its stay inside the eye. As for povidone, it is a dispersing and disrupting agent and is safe and effective in softening and moisturizing dry eye(s) Optifresh is a sterile eye solution used for tear deficiency. How to use Optifresh is for use as an eye drop only. Instill one or two drops into the affected eye(s), 3 to 4 times daily or as directed by the physician. Instructions for using eye drops: Twist the cap off the bottle, making sure the dropper is clean. Gently pull the lower eyelid down and carefully apply one drop into the lower eyelid at the corner closest to the nose. Allow the lower eyelid to return to its normal position and blink a few times to make sure the solution covers the entire eye. Repeat the same process for the other eye. When you have finished, replace the protective cap tightly to prevent the solution from leaking out or being damaged. One more eye drop than you should ™ If you have used Optifresh, it is very unlikely that you will suffer from an overdose of this medicine, but if you suddenly feel unwell after using the drops, tell your doctor or pharmacist. Warnings and precautions Do not use Optifresh eye drops if: You know you have a reaction to any of its ingredients. Take precautions when using Optifresh. Avoid contaminating the tip of the bottle with any material from the eye, fingers or any other source. Optifresh eye drops should be discontinued at the first appearance of signs of skin rash or any other symptoms of hypersensitivity. Stop using Optifresh eye drops and call your doctor if: You experience prolonged redness or irritation of the eye, eye pain, or changes in vision Your condition worsens or does not improve after 3 days of starting treatment with Optifresh Eye Drops. Side Effects Optifresh can cause side effects like all medicines, although not everybody gets them. Side effects reported following the use of Optifresh eye drops are: a slight stinging sensation, visual disturbances such as blurred vision. You may feel a slight stinging sensation when the drops are placed in your eye. This sensation will go away within a few minutes. If you experience any unwanted effects while using this medicine, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Storage Information Keep out of reach of children. Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Optifresh™ eye drops are sterile when first opened It is important that the drops are kept as clean as possible during use. The medicine is spoiled 30 days after opening the cap. Drug Interactions Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. If you have to use any other eye medicines during treatment with Optifresh Eye Drops: Use the other eye medicine first, wait 15 minutes, then use Optifresh Eye Drops.
