Description

Profenal XP provides powerful pain relief thanks to its ingredients that relieve pain in several different ways. This medicine contains two active ingredients: Ibuprofen: a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory compound that has anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, analgesic and antipyretic properties. Caffeine: Enhances the effect of ibuprofen and speeds up its onset of action. Profinal XP is used for rapid relief of pain in the following cases: It is used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (including juvenile rheumatoid arthritis or Still's disease), arthritis of the spine (ankylosing spondylitis), joint swelling, frozen shoulder, bursitis, tendinitis, tenosynovitis, lower back pain, and sprains and strains. Profenal XP is also used to treat other conditions associated with pain such as toothache, pain following surgery, menstrual pain and headaches, including migraine. How to use You should always take Profinal XP exactly as your doctor has told you. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure how to take this medicine. This medicine is used orally. The dose mentioned below should not be exceeded. Dosage The recommended dosage is one tablet 3 times daily. This medicine is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. If you take more Profinal XP than you should You should contact your doctor or go to the emergency department of the nearest hospital immediately , taking your tablets with you. Warnings and precautions Please tell your doctor or pharmacist before taking Profinal XP: If you have a liver or kidney disorder If you have systemic lupus erythematosus (sometimes called lupus) or connective tissue disease (an autoimmune disease that affects connective tissue) If you have swelling or irritation inside your nose Do you have chickenpox or shingles? When giving this medicine to children and adolescents. As dehydrated children and adolescents are at risk of kidney damage Side Effects Please stop taking Profinal XP tablets and seek medical advice immediately if you experience any of the following: Signs of aseptic meningitis, for example, severe headache, high fever, stiff neck or inability to tolerate light. Signs of gastrointestinal bleeding, for example: Bloody stool Black stool Vomiting blood or vomit containing dark particles similar to coffee grounds Storage Information Keep out of reach and sight of children. Do not take Profinal XP  after the expiry date which is stated on the pack and strip. Store below 30°C. Drug Interactions You should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medicines: Anticoagulant medications (thinning the blood/preventing clotting such as aspirin/acetylsalicylic acid, warfarin, ticlodipine) Medications that lower high blood pressure (ACE inhibitors such as captopril, beta blockers such as atenolol, or angiotensin II receptor antagonists such as losartan) Oral diuretics Cardiac glycosides, for example digoxin, which is used to treat heart problems Lithium Zidovudine (antiviral medication) Steroids (medicines used to treat inflammation) Methotrexate (a medicine used to treat certain types of cancer and rheumatoid arthritis) Medicines known as immunosuppressants, for example cyclosporine and tacrolimus (medicines used to reduce the body's immune system responses). Medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, which are medications used to treat depression. Antibiotics belonging to the quinolone group, for example ciprofloxacin Ingredients Ibuprofen, caffeine, corn starch, povidone, colloidal silicon dioxide, sodium starch glycolate, glyceryl behenate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide and talc.
